Pizza, Pasta, Pronto

This fall, Penn Middle School sixth-grade students participated in a creative math lesson designed to strengthen their skills in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals.

Math teachers Mrs. Wentroble, Mrs. Supernovich, and Mrs. Oberkofler transformed their classrooms into a mock restaurant, “Penn Middle Pizza, Pasta, Pronto,” where students acted as both restaurant staff and diners. While no real food was served, the students received “dishes” printed with math equations to solve as part of the dining experience.

The hands-on activity provided an engaging way for students to apply their math knowledge in a real-world context.
