In preparation for a year-end field trip to Gettysburg, Penn Middle School 8th-graders are learning all about the Civil War. Social Studies teachers Mr. Weir and Mr. Waszo acquired a replica Union soldier uniform to help the students become engaged with history.
“We were fortunate to have a complete replica union uniform for students to see, feel, and even wear,” commented Mr. Weir. “Pictures and movies are great, but when they feel the rough spun wool and try on 19th-century shoes, it takes learning to a whole new level.”
