WIU STEM Challenge Addresses Environmental Issues

In March, a team of eighth-graders from Penn Middle School was awarded second place in a STEM Challenge hosted by the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit. Participants in this county-wide initiative researched and identified an environmental issue and then created a solution with a prototype.

The Penn Middle team of Carter Blasi, Matthew Phipps, and Brayden Cain presented their project, “Trash Collection Module: An Ocean Clean-up Initiative.”
