Reenactors Provide Memorable Civil War Lesson

With the school year drawing to a close, Penn Middle School teachers Mr. Steve Weir and Mr. Chad Waszo wanted to wrap up their 8th-grade Social Studies lessons with a blast.  The Penn-Trafford teachers arranged with the Civil War reenactor group, 4th US Light Artillery Battery F, to give their students a real, live history lesson.  The reenactors dressed in Civil War uniforms, demonstrated how soldiers lived and fought in that period, and even fired a real cannon, giving the students a unique history lesson.

"Preparing for our annual year-end trip to Gettysburg, this gave our students a small but powerful sample of the sites and sounds that soldiers and civilians would have experienced," commented Mr. Weir.
