The seventh-grade students of Penn Middle School enjoyed some Kong-themed math missions courtesy of their teacher, Mrs. Ruffner.
One mission challenged students to "climb the tower" like King Kong by finding hidden coins along the stairway, solving tasks in sequence, and ultimately obtaining the code to unlock a treasure chest on a Google Form. In another mission, they analyzed McDonald’s menus from the 1950s to today, calculating the percent changes in prices.
These themed challenges allowed students to review key math concepts in an immersive way, making learning both engaging and enjoyable.
During the McDonald’s mission, students Mackenzie Emricko, Altesse Donfack Dongmo, Nathaniel Law, and Colten Moses worked together to calculate price changes over time
In Mission 1, Cole Szekely, Owen Baker, Emma Savering, and Will Weishaar entered their answers on a Google Form to uncover the clue word
During the "Climb the Tower" mission, William Carroll, Hagen Offield, Juliana Kepple, Emma Savering, and Curran Crenshaw found coins and solved ‘simple interest’ problems, with each answer building on the previous one
Logan Bolton, Kate Stanton, Giana Leonello, and Nolan Supernovich answered questions during the decoder mission to reveal a clue
