Classroom Lets Students Sit Where They Succeed

Dr. Katie Datz has received funding through DonorsChoose to enhance her classroom at Penn Middle School with flexible seating designed to support student engagement and individualized learning.

Datz has found that some students need movement to focus, others prefer quiet spaces, and many benefit from different setups depending on the task. Flexible seating allows them to choose where and how they work best, supporting comfort, confidence, independence, and engagement.

“By giving students the freedom to choose where and how they work best, I can support their confidence, independence, and engagement,” said Datz.  “More than just furniture, flexible seating is a way to show my students that their comfort, preferences, and success truly matter.”
