7th Grade STEM, 8th Grade STEM & Personal Finance
The S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering Math) program at Penn Middle offers a variety of comprehensive, activity-based classes designed to enhance the students' science, technology, engineering and mathematical literacy. All of the courses are project based, integrating multiple subject areas in order to make concepts relevant and tangible to today's technological world.
My S.T.E.M. classes have been designed to give students the chance to apply skills and knowledge in problem-solving activities that simulate real-world situations. Students trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX IQ Robotics® platform to design, build, and program our Clawbots. We will also design construct and build CO2 vehicles. We will be using the band saw, drill press, and power sanders to help us shape our vehicles.
